Archangel Celebrates 20th Anniversary

Archangel Systems, Inc. is pleased to announce its 20th anniversary as a company.  Dr. Kitty Greene, President of ASI, would like to congratulate all the employees and stockholders of Archangel who have made this milestone possible.  “Archangel began as a dream that quality avionics could be available for the average pilot.  From that, we have gone to being one of the world leaders in innovative solutions and products for the inertial sensing market.  This includes not only aerospace but also military and industrial applications.  I hope this will encourage others that success is possible if they are willing to combine their visions with a tremendous amount of hard work and perseverance.”

ASI Introduces AHR800 for Supersonic Jets

Archangel Systems, Inc. is pleased to announce its new Air Data Attitude Heading Reference System (ADAHRS), the AHR800. Based on the certified AHR150A & AHR300A systems, Archangel has further developed an ADAHRS that can support applications in high speed, high performance jet aircraft. The AHR800 system is capable of measuring airspeeds up to and including 850 knots indicated.

The AHR800 system consists of two boxes. The AHR800-1 Inertial Sensing Unit (ISU) senses rate, acceleration and air data, while the AHR800-2 Magnetic Sensing Unit (MSU) is a remote three axis magnetic field sensing device. Together these two components provide a powerful and cost effective alternative to other gyro systems.

The AHR800 is currently in final development and testing.  Deliveries to the AHR800’s flagship customer will begin during last quarter 2012.

Archangel Systems, Inc. is pleased to introduce a new Vehicle Predictive Roll-Over System (V-PRO).  Intended for both military and commercial vehicles, V-PRO provides auditory and visual warnings of impending rollover to driver and crew. Benefitto the owner include:

  1. A reduction in rollover occurrences that lowers costs of vehicle repairs and replacement
  2. Fewer crew injuries or deaths
  3. Reduced insurance costs
  4. Expanded vehicle operational envelope

According to Dr. Katherine Greene, Archangel's President, “There is a critical need to prevent rollover of Light Tactical Vehicles (LTV’s) used by military personnel.  For example mine-resistant vehicles (MRAP) used by the Marine Corps and Army have experienced more than 230 rollovers between November 2007 and January 2010, resulting in 13 fatalities.  In commercial markets, more than 20 armored cash transport truck rollovers occur annually.  V-PRO is designed specifically to reduce the number and severity of these events”.

Archangel Systems is pleased to announce its successful achievement of ISO 9001:2008 certification.  This milestone offers independent confirmation of Archangel's commitment to developing & manufacturing inertial sensing equipment which is both accurate and reliable.

According to Ron Turner, Archangel's Director of Quality, "The ISO quality management system is a comprehensive set of documented policies, procedures, and processes that comprise management's commitment to quality in all the company's activities.

Archangel's Quality Objectives are as follows: "To Meet or Exceed Customer Quality & Safety Expectations in These Key Areas: 1) Customer Satisfaction, 2) Product Performance, & 3) Continuous Quality & Product Improvement".

Erickson Air-Crane has selected Archangel Systems' AHR150A Air Data Attitude Heading Reference System (ADAHRS) and AFC001 Automatic Flight Control for their S-64 fleet.  Archangel supplies Erickson shipsets consisting of 2 ADAHRS and 2 AFC per S-64.  Archangel has worked closely with Erickson during their TC approval process, culminating in the initial S64 retrofit delivery to San Diego Gas and Electric in December, 2010.

The AHR150A is a cost effective ADAHRS at low size, weight and power budgets with FAA TSO C4c, C5e, C6d, C88a, C106 approvals.  All software is DO178B Level A running on redundant and dissimilar processors.  Developed for compatibility with Fly-by-Wire systems, data latencies are low. Air data is RVSM compliant.  The AFC001 has FAA TSO C9c approval with DO178B Level B software.
