Archangel Now EASA Certified Repair Station

Archangel Systems, Inc. is pleased to announce that it has received a Part-145 approval certificate from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The certificate allows Archangel to operate an approved EASA Repair Station.

Archangel has held an FAA Part-145 approval since 2012. The newest certification expands the number of customers that Archangel is able to service. “Our most recent accomplishment showcases our broad appeal to a worldwide market,” says Melissa Perdomo, Director of Quality for Archangel Systems.

All of Archangel’s technicians complete extensive training in areas such as Human Factors, Technical Data, Situational Awareness, the Repair Station Manual, and Facility Security courses in order to enhance the overall level of quality that Archangel delivers to their customers.

The recently certified repair station will be headed by Bob Caudle, Director of Production and Repair.

In 2010, Erickson undertook a major avionics upgrade for their iconic S-64 Aircrane. Archangel Systems was selected to supply its AHR150A ADAHRS and a custom flight controller, the AFC001, for the legacy autopilot. That was our wedding day.

Our marriage is celebrating its 5th anniversary this year, and it has been a true marriage. Early on, Archangel and Erickson worked together to beat down technical issues related to the high vibration levels of the S-64. Those efforts made the installation, and the marriage, much stronger. Our trust level is at an all-time high.

Since 2010 Archangel has won several Erickson Gold Supplier awards, but we’re most proud of how our products are helping Erickson in a hostile firefighting environment. We know that our growth and success relies on strong and capable clients like Erickson, and vice versa. We also appreciate how their contributions have impacted the position we enjoy in the aviation community. Happy anniversary, dear.

When you watch the Tour de France this year, there’s an interesting aviation contribution that adds to your enjoyment—the video feed. Cameras on three motorcycles and three helicopters capture the live action. All video is then beamed to a Beech 200 for re-transmission to an on-ground broadcast facility. From there, it’s up to satellites for worldwide distribution.

Protoplane Special Mission Aircraft in Bagneres de Bigorre, France holds all of the video STCs for the helicopters and Beech 200. Similar Protoplane systems were used at the 2012 London Olympics. Ironically, the Tour passes right in front of the Protoplane facility on Wednesday July 15th! See more details at http://www.protoplane.net
