Archangel Systems Welcomes Cameron Woods

Cameron Woods has joined Archangel Systems as our Marketing Strategy Intern. The Auburn University senior fills a new position on a three-member team that will be implementing new marketing approaches for complex avionics sales scenarios. Cameron’s contributions will focus on executing market research, campaign strategies, and collateral branding.

Archangel Director of Sales and Marketing, Bill Dillard says, “We are very pleased to have Cameron on-board. Our interview process was rigorous despite this being an intern position. Cameron passed that test easily. His background in sales and marketing brings a new perspective to our work.”

Dillard adds, “Cameron, Stephen Parsons, and I are now a team of three developing and delivering Archangel’s first coordinated marketing and branding initiative – an assembly of mindful marketing tactics to better attract and serve aerospace OEMs.”

Stephen Parsons has joined Archangel Systems as our Marketing Collateral Intern. The Auburn University MTPC student now has Deb Bailey’s position and duties such as website management, media releases, collateral generation, and documentation reviews.

Archangel Director of Sales and Marketing, Bill Dillard says, “Deb did excellent work here for four years. She stabilized our website and its content, standardized our documentation formatting, and created marketing artwork. She also vetted Stephen before his hiring and then trained him well. She will be missed.

Dillard adds, “With most of Deb’s functions now in maintenance mode, Stephen will be contributing to our new marketing and branding initiative, a critical retooling of tactics and mindset that targets aerospace OEMs. We started the groundwork in June 2017 and are confident that Stephen is the right hire at the right time. Welcome Stephen.”

Archangel Systems at CANSEC

Bill Dillard, Archangel Systems’ Director of Sales and Marketing, attended the Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries (CANSEC), June 1st. This denotes Archangel’s first appearance at a CANSEC exhibition.

Dillard comments, “I was very impressed with the caliber of industry and defense organizations. The booths were not only manned with sales personnel but also business development staff and key decision makers.”

Generating new accounts was the chief motivation for the trip. As of June 19 – less than three weeks after the conference – the CANSEC meetings have spawned six new potential programs that fit the Archangel business model.

Dillard adds, “I recommend CANSEC to any US company looking to expand exports and revenue. The attendees appreciate our technical capabilities and are eager to partner with US companies.”

Archangel has been featured in an article for the Opelika Observer. Writer Hannah Lupas begins by describing Archangel's history through an interview with Michael and Kitty Greene. The Greenes explain how they managed to overcome a recession in the aviation industry and learned many lessons along the way. Lupas also explores Archangel's latest project: the development of cabin altitude monitor that detects problems in air pressure before it becomes evident to the pilot. Archangel Systems announces that its AHR150A ADAHRS has been selected for the Bell Helicopter V-280 Valor tiltrotor program. The V-280 Valor is Bell Helicopter’s submission to the U.S. Army’s Joint MultiRole Technology Demonstrator (JMR-TD) program. JMR-TD is the precursor to the Future Vertical Lift (FVL) initiative created to develop replacements for the UH-60 Black Hawk and AH-64 Apache.

Michael Greene, Archangel CEO, says, “Bell Helicopter is designing the V-280 Valor to accommodate escalating long-term capabilities and missions. That puts a premium on the avionics selection process. So we’re thrilled to supply the AHR150A to the project. The 150A provides critical information to both the cockpit displays and the fly-by-wire flight control systems. That is a powerful testament to the caliber of our catalog.”

Specifications for the V-280 Valor are impressive. With two fuel-efficient turboshaft engines, the V-280 Valor has a useful load of 20,000 pounds, a cruise speed of 280 kts, and a 2,100 nm range. Every possible weight reduction opportunity must be adopted to reach that performance level while meeting mission requirements.

“Archangel’s design philosophy has always focused on high performance at reduced size, weight, and power budgets, but with DAL A software certification,” says Bill Dillard, Director of Sales and Marketing at Archangel. “We see this approach as the future of avionics hardware. Selection onto the V-280 Valor validates that vision.”
